Description

Eros is the Greek god of love. In the earliest myths, Eros appears as a powerful creative force. He is one of the first gods who emerged out of Chaos and the God who is the catalyst for all of the following events. In Greek religion, Eros is primarily a personification of love and erotic attraction. Due to this view of Eros, sexual symbols are often associated with Eros and as a person or god figure, he is often depicted as a boy or man with wings and bow and arrow ready to shoot love into people. Eros falls in love with Psyche also named Soul. His charisma is so great that he insists that she should never look at his face, and therefore he can only visit her at night. To begin with, she agrees, but her family insists that her husband may be a grotesque and dangerous monster. Then one night she turns on a lamp and sees him; a magnificent and beautiful man, but when she sees him she trembles so much that she shakes the lamp. A few drops of hot oil drips on her beloved, burning him, and he flies away from her in physical pain made worse by the pain of knowing that she did not trust him. His mother, Aphrodite, is angry with this happening and wants to kill Psyche, but Eros comes to her rescue, and they get married. As it is fitting for a God of love, Eros and Soul live happy-ever-after. Love and soul, two inseparable archetypes that have occupied humanity throughout our history. The Romans called Eros for Amor or Cupid, Well-known figures of our time.
